Maintaining updated content is a must!

Hard to believe June and summer are right around the corner. As I write this blog on May 26, 2016 I am amazed by how rapidly half of this year seems to be passing. It feels like the turn of the century (2oth to 21st) happened just yesterday instead of fifteen years ago (in 2001). Hard to believe how much has changed since the 20th century, except for gas prices which this past winter (2015 – 2016) was similar to the 1980’s with this summer being more like 1990’s prices. Thank goodness for this gas price break, especially for my fellow Americans who need their car to get to and from work! There is much to be grateful for while I type this via my laptop…..

Keeping a promise, given since this blog began, to my readers who visit this blog site, today I updated it. There will be some surprises. The biggest is one less page for I removed the page listing what I have published (its content is now on my official author website Alicia Rose Shares). To further shock, I completely restructured, added new content and changed the title to the page formerly known as Sharing with you things I like or recommend to Sharing with you as a friend

I look forward to receiving feedback regarding all changes accomplished. Maintaining and updating seasonally, annually or periodically one’s official blog and website is definitely a must! Someone recently sent me feedback informing me they had stopped visiting Alicia Rose at WordPress, because I did not add new content as often as they preferred. This made me realize, I needed to give my official author’s blog more tender loving care by checking all content and updating this site more often. My goal this year is to keep my official blog site as evergreen as is humanly possible. To all who send me feedback, I return with appreciation for without it, I might not have realized it was time to update as I have today.

To my fellow Americans in the USA: fabulous Memorial Day Weekend! For 2016, Memorial day is May 30th! Be safe while celebrating plus remembering to honor those who have fought and lost their lives for our country as well as those who still are active in the US Military. Do not forget to wish all Veterans you know a great big thank you too for many served under extreme extraordinary circumstances while the rest of us stayed safe at home throughout the USA.Honoring Memorial Day

This author is very thankful for those brave souls who currently serve for they are our heroes ensuring we are safe! Sincere gratitude to all who are and have been in the US Military (or their own country’s) for to serve one’s country with honor and dignity definitely makes every military personnel a hero!

Thank YOU for visiting, and may the rest of 2016 spring bring you joy plus prosperity!

Autumn is around the corner….

Milen Art

Sunny Afternoon, artwork by Milen

In August, I tried my hand at making a video with Windows Movie Maker. It was much fun; learned how to splice sections, add images plus effects and how to make the audio match the images, text and special effects. Now I truly appreciate the art of video making more for it is not as easy, yet worth the time spent. Windows Movie Maker is user friendly, more than Microsoft PowerPoint (to me). Here is my Windows Movie Maker result on YouTube, click here.  All feedback is welcome.

The end of August is ending with quite a buzz regarding the Republican Convention. Hard to believe September and the Democratic Party Convention (September 4th) will arrive soon. This US Presidential Election Year is quite extraordinary and the issues are heating up between the candidates. It will be close, from what I can tell which will give us something very exciting to witness in November. I enjoy a close campaign race. This makes the ending truly a surprise.

Autumn begins this year on September 23, 2012. Soon it will be time to get one’s autumn clothes out of storage as well as replace sandals with warmer shoes or boots. I have already begun eyeing the light sweaters in my closet. Soon even my dachshund will be wearing his light autumn sweaters. Before we know it October will be here, and many children with their parents’ assistance will be making jack-o-lanterns plus roasting fresh pumpkin seeds. 2012 is racing by very fast for me; definitely a busy year!

A very special hearty thank you from me to those who visit Alicia Rose at WordPress website; all visitors are appreciated. UnderminingAlex, the sequel to JustAlex, will be published sometime next year! That much is definite.

To those who began their school year in August or will be beginning a new school year in September, a wonderful school year is wished to each of you. May you learn much for greater growth and your wonderful future. To your success in school!

Cheery autumn!

Alicia started her online bookstore February 2011

Internet's Best Marketing Articles

cover of e-book, "Internet's Best Marketing Articles"

February 2011 was a big month for me. I learned much about marketing, advertising and the importance of a domain name. I found out many Internet users search by domain or blog name. Having both of these, or at least one, from a marketing point of view gives one a promotional edge. Most businesses know how crucial this is regarding gaining customers.

Desirous of having a domain name for my newly formed online bookstore, Alicia Harrell’s Bookstore, founded the beginning of February, 2011, I seriously looked into this matter. My research brought many surprises including how pricey most of the companies that offer domain names and domain services are. The majority insist on one paying for 2 years at a time which adds up and can end up costing $60 or more. I mostly saw the more and cringed as these 2 year plans (package deals) did not meet my budgetary requirements.

DomainPros.com was the affordable website I chose to get my certified domain name www.aliciaharrellsbookstore.com. This website was recommended by my bookstore‘s supplier who was very encouraging and helpful. Going with DomainPros.com has turned out to be a blessing, bigger than expected.

One feature I fell in love with is their email service. DomanPros.com has an email service I found inexpensive, useful, easy to use and receive emails from others, plus beneficial for my bookstore (listed on my website for customer use). It is an email I can also post on advertisements. For any business this is crucial; having a reliable email address with domain name and service gives a professionalism most customers notice.

DomainPros.com offers several package deals varying in price that include privacy settings, security, certification for domain name, email service, domain names, web hosting, marketing tools, and build a website service. These packages range in price from $11.99 per year for a .com domain name on up. It depends upon what you want in your package that reflects the needs of your domain or domain name. They have reasonable pricing for .co, .info, .net, .me and .org too.

I chose a .com for my domain name because my bookstore is commercial and that is what .com means, a commercial entity listed online. What I liked best about DomainPros.com was the ability to renew my package annually which for me is easier to budget. I highly recommend DomainPros.com; especially for the budget conscience.

Looking forward to March and sharing more with you,

Alicia Rose

Winter arrived February 1st in Southern Oklahoma

Icles hanging from roses

Greetings,

Thank you for visiting my WordPress blog domain. It is appreciated. I have in the past two weeks added or altered some content throughout its web pages. This blog domain has become my monthly project instead of the planned weekly or bi-weekly one. I sincerely apologize to those who prefer weekly or bi-weekly updates or added content.

My time currently is 95% dedicated to writing Science Fiction novels and Freelance Writing on the websites listed under the tab “Published by Alicia Rose.” The other 5% includes family time, walking my dachshund, cleaning our home, emailing, shopping for groceries and incidentals, plus other very ordinary aspects of living as well as keeping this domain updated.

Today, February 1, 2011, Southern Oklahoma received its first real snow and ice for the winter. According to my yardstick, we received about 3 to 4 inches. The method I used is not the most accurate. I went to six different spots in my front and backyard to determine the average snow in inches with the use of my yardstick. My husband teased me about acting like a meteorologist when I came indoors after sticking the yardstick into the snow to determine snowfall.

Due to the amount of snow and ice received, I will not be driving my car today. My mailbox is iced shut. I am uncertain how my mail will be delivered. The screen door to my front door’s threshold is snowed closed; will not budge when I attempt to open it.  According to my Weather Channel dashboard, it is 11 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing is 32 degrees Fahrenheit) where I live. A good day to stay warm indoors, eat soup and drink hot beverages.

Wishing all a fabulous February,

Alicia Rose
